Our 2016 Rangeland Flora Rosé label, seventh in an annual series, features the edible miner's lettuce (Claytonia Perfoliata). Native to California, the plant is rich in vitamin C and prefers cool, damp conditions. It grows abundantly in shady north slopes all through the foothills and coastal mountains of California. The name comes from the gold rush miners, who ate the lettuce to prevent scurvy.
