2011 Mistletoe
Tasting Notes:
Before introducing Rangeland Wines, Laird created his own non-traditional blend of wine in his cellar. Since he was bottling at Christmas time, he named it Mistletoe Red. Rangeland 2011 Mistletoe blends Bordeaux and Rhone varieties in a fun, stylish take on Paso Robles creativity. Rich aromas of Syrah dominate with dark plum, meaty and earthy notes. The Cabernet offers a gently floral bouquet and contributes the wine’s core cherry and blueberry flavors. The Merlot’s creamy texture softens the mid palate and fine melted tannins smooth the finish of this elegantly dark blend of Cabernet Sauvignon 47%, Merlot 36%, and Syrah 17%
Grower Notes:
2011 was the 2nd vintage in a series of cool years that enabled long hang times and our latest harvest to date. This wine blends fruit from our first pick of the season off of Merlot growing on serpententic soils, to our last pick of the season 5 weeks later from cabernet sauvignon growing on Limestone soils.
